Scott Bain Hails Behind-the-Scenes Role of Celtic Coach in Falkirk Move

Scott Bain has claimed that long-time Celtic goalkeeping coach Stevie Woods had a crucial role in his move to Falkirk, which ended his seven-and-a-half-year tenure at Parkhead.

The 33-year-old custodian was named as Falkirk’s latest acquisition on Tuesday, joining the newly promoted Scottish Premiership club ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Bain, who had little playing time at Celtic in recent seasons, detailed how the move came about through a combination of old relationships and mutual respect.

He told the Falkirk Herald, “I know John from both my and his time at Celtic. “I had reached an arrangement with the club that I would be departing.

“Stevie Woods informed John about my predicament, and after talking to the manager and observing Falkirk’s style of play, I believe it was obvious to me that this is the club I was going to visit.” Woods’ endorsement and Bain’s connection with Falkirk manager John McGlynn seem to have made the transfer easier.

His departure is the most recent alteration to Celtic’s goalkeeping staff; Ross Doohan, Viljami Sinisalo, and Kasper Schmeichel will now be the primary choices in goal.

In 2018, Bain moved from Dundee to Celtic, where he played more than 70 games. Despite being a regular at first, he progressively lost ground under several managers. However, his background will be a huge help to a Falkirk team trying to solidify their place in the top division.

Now that his transfer to Falkirk has been announced, Bain will be looking to rekindle his career at a team where he believes he can have a significant impact. The goalie’s move demonstrates Stevie Woods’ continued significance, since his backstage work continues to benefit players even after they have left Celtic.
