SEAN LONGSTAFF SIGNS FOR LEEDS UNITED

Midfielder becomes fifth summer signing!

With an undisclosed fee, Leeds United is pleased to announce the signing of Sean Longstaff, who previously played for Newcastle United.

The midfield player will remain in West Yorkshire until the summer of 2029 after agreeing to a four-year contract at Elland Road.

After making 25 Premier League appearances for the Magpies last season, which helped them earn a spot in the Champions League, our fifth acquisition of the summer comes in Leeds. He also played a significant role in winning the League Cup, which ended St. James’ Park’s 70-year trophy drought.

Longstaff made his Newcastle debut in a 2018 cup match against Nottingham Forest after enjoying significant loan stints early in his career. Since then, he has played more than 200 games for his boyhood club across all competitions.

In a 2019 triumph over Burnley, the team scored their first goal in black and white. Having scored 16 goals in the Premier League, Longstaff continued to be a goal danger going forward and loved a long-range shot or a duel in the air.

Sean, who made five appearances in the UEFA Champions League during the 2023–2024 season, brings experience from his time on Tyneside to the European scene.

In a memorable evening at St. James’ Park, our newest addition started in the middle of the midfield in a goalless draw against Italian powerhouse AC Milan at the San Siro. He then scored the third goal in a 4-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain and faced Borussia Dortmund both at home and away.

We are excited to watch Sean play for the Whites, and everyone at Leeds United would like to welcome our fifth summer addition to the team.
