KEVIN Playing for Colchester United was a “major thing” for his son Kyreece, according to Lisbie, who is eager to watch him establish himself there the following season.
Seeing his son, Kyreece, play for the senior team this season has filled former Colchester United striker Kevin Lisbie with a sense of pride and satisfaction. With 17 goals in 42 games during his 2007–08 stint, Lisbie cemented his position in U’s history. In recent years, he has watched his son follow in his footsteps and climb the football pyramid on his own.
Alongside his twin brother Kyrell, Kyreece, a winger who can play on either flank, first rose through Leyton Orient’s development system. After failing in the junior setup, they were both labelled “too injury prone” and endured setbacks after being discharged in 2017. However, perseverance and diligence paid off, as both joined Watford’s academy in 2021 following stints in the Sunday league and time with the Cray Valley Paper Mills U23 team. The breakthrough came in March 2025 when Kyreece signed a loan deal with Colchester United after making three significant appearances during a successful time with Braintree Town.
In the meantime, his brother Kyrell has also been in the news, winning accolades at Braintree and landing a transfer to Peterborough United in May 2025.
“I’m so proud — it’s every father’s dream to see their child playing professionally, and at Colchester of all clubs that means so much to me,” Lisbie said candidly in an interview with Jon Waldron about his joy. Kevin’s sense of full-circle pride was emphasised by the exchange, which was covered by several outlets yesterday. His kid is now a part of the establishment of the club where he first became a fan favourite.
