Royals Home has rebranded as a long-standing partner, chosen a car leasing company, and given our stadium a new name.

We have the ideal occasion to commemorate this club’s history during our 150th anniversary season. Additionally, it

inspires us to look ahead and all that the Royals have in store.

Additionally, we are happy to announce that our home will be known as the Select Car Leasing Stadium for the next

ten years as part of a collaboration that will aid Reading Football Club and its long-term stability.

The UK’s top independent car and van leasing specialists are now Principal Partners Select Car Leasing, a locally

based company that was founded in 2004 and has its headquarters located very close to the stadium complex.

Both directors James O’Malley and Mark Tongue have been long-time Royals supporters and currently hold season

tickets for the team. This historic stadium sponsorship deal builds on the team’s already fruitful, long-standing

relationship with Reading Football Club.

Since 2015, Select has been a valued partner of the club. This summer, they committed to a three-year record front of

shirt sponsorship arrangement, making them our Principal Partner. The thriving local organisation has now decided

to expand its collaboration to redesign the Royals’ stadium for the next ten years in addition to extending the jersey

sponsorship contract until 2026.

While there has always been the potential to secure similar stadium branding agreements with other organisations, it

remained imperative to the us that a partner with an affinity to the club, its supporters and the town was chosen.

Select were the natural choice, as a firm built and grown by local people with a strong sense of community. Select Car

Leasing are the perfect fit.

As loyal supporters, O’Malley and Tongue also have a great deal of admiration for Sir John Madejski, the former

chairman of the Royals, who had the idea to move the Royals and provided the funding for the construction of our

RG2 home in 1998. As a result, they agreed to recognise his role in creating the team we all love today by renaming

the East Stand the Sir John Madejski Stand as part of their decision to donate their company’s name to the stadium.

His legacy will endure.

“This began as a pipe dream. When James and I began this business from the back room of a house in Reading, we

were following the Royals’ rise to the Premier League and always joked that one day it would be Select Car Leasing’s

name being linked with the blue and white hoops. Now, the dream is being realised. We are thrilled for Select Car

Leasing and its affinity with Reading Football Club and personally we are absolutely delighted to be able to give

something back to the club we have both supported for so long.

As a Reading-based automotive company that currently employs nearly 300 people in the local community, we feel

there is a tangible synergy between this stadium’s magnificent beginnings and its promising future. The stadium’s

very foundations were built on the success of Sir John Madejski’s AutoTrader enterprise.

The impact that Sir John had on Reading Football Club and its community was incalculable. The torch has been

passed to us, but Sir John Madejski’s legacy will live on for years to come.
