Sheffield United and Swansea City are reportedly interested in signing Ethan Galbraith, a Leyton Orient midfielder, this summer.

According to journalist Pete O’Rourke, Sheffield United and Swansea City are interested in signing Galbraith, who had a successful season with Leyton Orient in League One.

The O’s were in the relegation zone as recently as December, but a stunning second half of the season saw them finish sixth in the table, with Galbraith playing a key role in his team’s success, contributing a number of important goals and assists.

Orient may lose Northern Ireland international Galbraith, who can play in central midfield or right-back, after losing 1-0 to Charlton Athletic in the play-off final at Wembley last month.

The 24-year-old joined the O’s on a two-year free transfer from Manchester United in the summer of 2023. His contract was set to expire this summer, but the club activated an option to keep him for another year.

Sheffield United lost 2-1 to Sunderland in the play-off final after failing to achieve automatic promotion due to a late-season collapse. However, with manager Chris Wilder set to remain in charge, the club hopes to compete at the top end of the Championship again next season.

Swansea finished 11th in the table last season after a strong end to the campaign under Alan Sheehan, who has now been appointed as the club’s new permanent head coach. This summer, the Welsh side has already been active in the transfer market, with the eye-catching £5.1 million signing of winger Zeidane Inoussa from BK Hacken.

As they prepare for the new season, O’Rourke claims that the pair have set their sights on Galbraith. This is not the first time the Swans have been linked with the midfielder, having previously targeted him during the January transfer window.
