Sheffield United attacker could leave for Scottish club

Jefferson Cacares, a Sheffield United winger, could join Dunfermline Athletic, The Star reports

Sheffield United may part ways with the attacker to make room for future signings. On the opening day of the Championship, SUFC lost 4-1 at home to Bristol City.

Cacares, 22, joined the Blades in February. Prior to his move, he stood out while playing for FBC Melgar in Peru.

In the most recent update on his predicament in South Yorkshire, The Star reports that Dunfermline Athletic have emerged as a prospective future destination for him. They play football in the Scottish Championship.

Ruben Selles, speaking after their defeat to Bristol City, told BBC Sport: “We came here today, we wanted to have a fantastic performance in front of our fans, but nothing went our way. There are some technical aspects that require improvement. However, there are times during the game, particularly after we have equalized, when we can exploit that opportunity to score the second goal and shift the dynamics of the game.

“We didn’t; they did, and their third goal was a huge impact in the game, and we gave up the fourth goal too quickly. There are many things that can be improved, and it is not good enough from anyone, starting with me.”
