Sheffield United’s Chris Wilder prioritizes bringing in new attacking players this summer after losing in the Championship play-off final. Peterborough United’s Kwame Poku is gaining attention in the EFL and beyond.

Sheffield United transfer news: Kwame Poku drawing Blades’ attention
According to GiveMeSport, Sheffield United are one among the clubs interested in signing Peterborough star Kwame Poku.
Birmingham City, who were recently promoted, have already made a contract offer, and Sunderland, who were promoted to the Premier League at the expense of the Blades, are also keeping an eye on the situation.
The 23-year-old is one of the most sought-after players in League One this summer, having scored 12 goals and provided eight assists in 27 games during an otherwise poor season for Posh.

With Celtic and Rangers also interested, the battle for his signature will be heated. However, with the forward out of contract, a move might result in only a compensation fee, making Poku a valued and potentially affordable alternative, though wages may rise owing to demand.
When questioned about the potential of Poku joining Sheffield United, FLW’s Blades fan analyst Jimmy believes the winger would be an excellent addition, particularly given the void left by the outgoing Jesurun Rak-Sakyi.
“Would fit in nicely” – Sheffield United fan backs Poku to replace Rak-Sakyi
“Kwame Poku is an excellent player that we like,” Jimmy told FLW. “And if we are going to continue with this 4-2-3-1 formation, we need a right-winger because we simply haven’t got that in the squad at the moment, particularly with Rak-Sakyi going back.”
“I believe Rak-Sakyi was ultimately a disastrous signing. We saw a few glimpses of the talent he was praised for, but he never delivered consistently.”
Jimmy also emphasised the importance of getting players on permanent contracts, saying: “The fact that Poku will be joining on a permanent basis is a great plus. It’s another asset you’re bringing to the team.”

Despite the lack of a transfer fee, Jimmy is realistic about the costs: “As much as it would be a good signing, I am not sure how much of a bargain it would be.” You save on the cost, but with the high interest rate, his earnings will be high.”
“It has similar vibes to the Callum O’Hare deal, technically a free transfer but with a lot of money involved.”
Still, there is plenty of reasonable excitement at the prospect: “He would fit into our side very nicely, also with his old buddy Harrison Burrows from Peterborough as well.”

Sheffield United must act fast as Poku interest grows
With Birmingham City already pitching their offer directly to Poku, and Sunderland planning to strengthen following their Premier League return, Sheffield United will need to act decisively if they are serious about acquiring the winger.
With Rak-Sakyi’s loan not translating to a permanent stay, a dependable and explosive right-sided attacker is exactly what Chris Wilder’s club requires. And, if Poku can adapt his League One form to the Championship, the move may be extremely beneficial.
