Sheffield United boss responds to question on Millwall defender
The Lions offered the centre-back a new contract this summer amid interest from other clubs, although none have activated his release clause of £1.2 million, which can only be triggered by Premier League teams.
However, NewsAtDen understands that the Blades are keen on securing Tanganga’s services and are pushing hard to get the deal done.
Asked if there was a chance of additions ahead of Friday’s 12pm registration deadline, Selles told the Sheffield Star: “Yes, there is.”
“We expect two players to be in and around for the weekend. I think it’s obvious that the priority was defenders, and those are the two we hope we will have in for the weekend.”
When asked about Tanganga specifically, Selles said: “With names like Japhet or others in the Championship, I would prefer not to make comment because it’s a sensible thing. We are playing in two days and it’s not fair on him or his club. And that would the same with any other club in the Championship too.”
Alex Neil was asked by NewsAtDen earlier today about the reports linking Tanganga to Sheffield United, but did not comment.
