Sheffield United ‘expected’ to revisit interest in QPR stalwart with post-Wembley exits on the cards

According to reports, Sheffield United is anticipated to reexamine their interest in Jimmy Dunne, a mainstay of Queens Park Rangers.

The Star claims that Dunne will likely be targeted by the Blades once more during the summer transfer window.

Jimmy Dunne has been on the books at Queens Park Rangers since 2021.

Chris Wilder, the Blades’ manager, was eager to bolster his defense during the winter transfer window. Although Dunne was considered by the club, a contract with QPR could not be reached.

Instead, Sheffield United signed Rob Holding on loan from Crystal Palace, relying on his expertise.

Wilder said: “We made a bid for Jimmy and it got turned down, He wasn’t our player and QPR have every right to do what they needed to do in that particular moment.

“For a player out of contract in the summer, we put a reasonably good bid in. We obviously like the player because if we didn’t, we wouldn’t have put a bid in.

“But QPR have every right to turn that down and they turned it down. And we moved on, and I’m delighted we’ve got Rob in. He’s been outstanding, he’s got great experience, it’s been great for me and the coaches to have him around the group and he’s settled in well. He’s a popular member of the group and he’s a really good player.”

However, QPR had every right to reject that, and they did. We then moved on, and I’m happy that Rob is now a part of it. Having him around the group has been fantastic for me and the coaches, and he has adapted well. He has been exceptional and has a wealth of knowledge. He is a very talented player and a well-liked member of the club.

Sheffield United was condemned to another season of Championship football after a devastating loss to Sunderland in the play-off final.

When teams lose out on relegation, they often discover that their most valuable assets are targeted by sharks.

Sheffield United were beaten by Sunderland in the Championship play-off final.

Last season, Leeds United was in this situation after losing Archie Gray, Crysencio Summerville, and Georginio Rutter to Brighton & Hove Albion, West Ham United, and Tottenham Hotspur, respectively.

The Premier League has shown admiration for defender Anel Ahmedhodzic in the past, and Sheffield United may have to contend with interest in him.

The Blades may find it difficult to reject a proposal because he just has one year left on his contract.

After his loan period ends, Holding is scheduled to return to his parent club, and it is unclear if a new contract will be sought.

Further up the field at Bramall Lane, there may be departures; in the wake of the agony at Wembley, a move for important midfielder Gustavo Hamer scarcely seems unlikely.
