Sheffield United goalkeeper Ivo Grbic unsurprisingly has left the club to join Turkish top flight side Fatih Karagümrük on a season-long loan
Following a lack of playing time at Bramall Lane, Sheffield United’s Croatian goalkeeper Ivo Grbic has signed a season-long loan with top-flight Turkish club Fatih Karagümrük. The 29-year-old has been something of a journeyman throughout his career, having played for six different clubs in his eight years as a professional, including European heavyweights Athletico Madrid and Lille. The goalkeeper joined for the Blades in January 2024 for an undisclosed amount in an agreement that runs until 2027.

Grbic began his career with Croatian team Hajduk Split and drew the attention of major European clubs, but he has struggled to establish himself as a first-choice keeper no matter where he goes. Grbic told BBC Sport that before joining Sheffield United, he had played in several top divisions in France and Spain, as well as in the Champions League with Lille and 15 or 16 games for Atletico last season. Grbic’s time in a Blades shirt has been limited, with only nine appearances before being loaned out to Turkish side Rizespor, where he appeared in 22 league games last season.
