Kieffer Moore was on target as Sheffield United booked their place in Wembley with a 6-0 aggregate victory over Bristol City
Kieffer Moore praised Sheffield United’s ‘perfect’ performance in defeating Bristol City to advance to the play-off final at Wembley Stadium. The Blades will face either Sunderland or Coventry City in the final, a monetary prize worth millions of pounds. However, manager Chris Wilder disputed Moore’s assessment.
Wilder said after a second 3-0 win over the Robins in as many days: “That was tough. I don’t think the scoreline accurately reflected the struggle because they are an uncomfortable side. The two games we played against them were quite unpleasant. Technically, a really good team, with some talented players and a sharp, intelligent coach. So we needed to be good.”
United were good, and they opened the scoring in the first half with a bullet header from Moore, which calmed any anxieties in a boisterous Bramall Lane, creating the mood that Wilder had envisioned.
Following the half, Gus Hamer’s deflected strike from a well-worked corner increased the lead before Callam O’Hare made it 3-0, as he did at Ashton Gate last week.
Moore described the atmosphere at Wembley Stadium as “unreal” and praised the team’s professional performance. “It was perfect – to a man, everyone was brilliant and the crowd was amazing,” he said. “We needed that first goal to really assert ourselves. We knew what we had to do and it was a very good, professional performance. We’re very much buzzing and looking forward to Wembley now.
Moore sustained a knock in the first half and was replaced later in the game by Tyrese Campbell, but there appears to be no serious cause for concern.
“I jarred my knee, it’s not ideal but I’ll be fine,” he told me.
