Sheffield United Linked With Free Agent Duo But Face Losing Key Midfielders This Summer

With some important players anticipated to go and new targets already on the club’s radar, the transfer rumor mill is already heating up as Sheffield United gets set to leave the Premier League once more this summer after losing in the play-offs.

Sheffield United to Lose Key Midfielders This Summer

Sheffield United linked with two defenders that are free agents, but face losing Gustavo Hamer and Vinicius Souza this summer.

According to recent TalkSport rumors, Leeds United and Everton are showing a lot of interest in midfield dynamo Gustavo Hamer, who will turn 28 soon. With nine goals and seven assists at the end of the season, Hamer was one of the Blades’ primary bright spots.

Even though the Blades lost 2-1 to Sunderland in the closing minutes of the Championship play-offs, the Dutchman is still highly regarded for his technical skill and midfield vigor. There would be a big gap left by Hamer’s departure in midfield and as an inverted left-winger, but United understood that if they didn’t get promoted this season, Hamer would be extensively connected to Premier League teams in the coming months.

Vinicius Souza is another name that is probably in the news. The Brazilian midfielder is prepared to quit Bramall Lane in an attempt to increase his chances of being included in Brazil’s 2026 FIFA World Cup team, according to AS.

Clubs in the Premier League and La Liga have expressed interest in Souza, who will turn 26 shortly, because of his athleticism, aggressiveness, and poise on the ball.

After a difficult first season at United, the Brazilian was demoted from the Premier League. After getting used to playing English football, he demonstrated his character in his second season. Despite his lack of goals and assists, he is a strong midfield physical leader with good technical skills. However, he requires a player profile that fits his demands.

Blades Targeting Defenders

Sheffield United are aiming to carry on their positive momentum on Saturday afternoon as they host Queens Park Rangers.

According to Foot Mercato, the Blades are one of several teams keeping an eye on Gora Diouf, a 21-year-old center-back from FC Sion. Clubs in England, France, and Turkey have expressed interest in Diouf, who will be a free agent at the end of June.

A transfer to Sheffield United might be a wise business decision as the team looks to strengthen their defense without breaking the bank. The young Senegalese left-footed defender is recognized for his muscular presence and agility for his stature.

Diouf made 24 appearances in the Swiss Super League last season, contributing two goals and helping to maintain three clean sheets.

Lastly, Sheffield United has once again made Jimmy Dunne of QPR a target. The Irish defender’s contract expires this summer, according to Alan Nixon, and the Blades, who have long admired him, are anticipated to finally make a move.
