Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl is reportedly the leading contender to become Leicester City’s next head coach.
After a disappointing season in the Premier League that culminated in relegation, the Foxes are headed to the Championship.
Although Ruud van Nistelrooy is in charge, there have been rumors that he might not be when the 2025–2026 season begins. Reporter Graeme Bailey claims that Rohl is the front-runner for the position and has been connected to the Foxes position on multiple occasions.
Rohl is a candidate for the Leicester position. Russell Martin, who was unemployed after being ejected by Southampton, was reportedly a target for Leicester. Rangers, a Scottish powerhouse, has taken action to sign the 39-year-old.
Bailey stated in an interview with EFL Analysis that Rohl is a candidate to lead Leicester.
“I don’t think Leicester is all in on anyone at the moment,
” he stated. Since van Nistelrooy hasn’t left yet and they’re weighing their choices, I believe they’re in a good situation.
Although Danny Rohl is undoubtedly on the shortlist and I believe he truly wants it—especially after losing out on the Southampton position—I don’t think Leicester is depending on him just yet.
“Danny Rohl is still very much the front-runner for Leicester if and when they make their decision, and with options dwindling.”
The 36-year-old has publicly questioned his future at Hillsborough, even using the past tense when discussing his role.
Off-field turmoil seems to have rendered his post in S6 untenable, and he has been connected to positions in Germany and England.
He spoke to Kicker last month: “I had a great time at Sheffield Wednesday personally. I’ve never concealed my desire to collaborate with the top players at the greatest level in the near future.
“Of course, the Bundesliga is taken into account. Informally, my circumstances in Sheffield are rather obvious. “I have a clear understanding with the owner regarding my future goals.
