Sheffield Wednesday fans sent warning by Sky Sports pundit after recent blows, ‘a massive mess

In less than two weeks, the Championship season will begin, and Sheffield Wednesday’s situation is not getting any better.

When Sheffield Wednesday’s manager chose not to return at the beginning of preseason, the players were not thrilled with Danny Rohl.

Although it is anticipated that the German will depart the Owls this summer, Rohl’s departure is being impeded by financial considerations.

The primary cause of Wednesday’s problems this year has been money; they have been subject to many embargoes and have failed to pay staff.

One Sky Sports analyst has now explained to the Yorkshire club’s supporters why they should be concerned.

Sheffield Wednesday fans sent a warning.

Amid financial problems, Sheffield Wednesday have been selling players to try and recoup some cash.

But after they could not pay wages on time, Josh Windass and Michael Smith terminated their contracts.

Windass has moved to Wrexham, and Smith has linked up with Preston North End.

Don Goodman has been warning Sheffield Wednesday supporters about all of the team’s issues.

“As a Sheffield Wednesday supporter, I would be extremely concerned right now,” he told Football League World.

It wasn’t what they needed to lose players like Michael Smith and Josh Windass on a free transfer and then have three transfer windows blocked.

It’s a complete disaster, with an owner who appears to be lost and struggling financially, failing to pay bills and wages.

“I do think it’s a really attractive club for somebody to buy, but whether the valuation of Wednesday by the current owner is realistic enough may be the reason that things are not moving forward regarding a takeover, so it is a real concern.”

Sheffield Wednesday fans find one positive in crisis

Sheffield Wednesday can’t sign players for a transfer fee and have a wage cap in place.

This, combined with a number of senior stars leaving, has seen Rohl’s squad heavily reduced.

It means a Championship relegation battle surely looks to be on the cards in 2025/26.

But Sheffield Wednesday fans are ‘excited’ by the young talent at the club getting a chance in the first team.
