Sheffield Wednesday man signs new contract amid chaos, it may be the most important deal of the summer

Sheffield Wednesday fans have been waiting for positive news for quite some time, so the club’s decision to sign one of its most important players to a new contract comes at an ideal time.

Sheffield Wednesday is in a bad situation right now, because to unpaid wages and HMRC liabilities, which have resulted in a triple transfer embargo.

Aside from that, Danny Rohl has yet to report for pre-season training, and there is a strong likelihood he may depart Sheffield Wednesday this summer.

In the meantime, Andy Holdsworth had taken head of the Owls’ summer training camp. Henrik Pedersen has signed a new deal with the club, so a more experienced head will take over.

Henrik Pedersen signed a new deal with Sheffield Wednesday.
Pedersen is Rohl’s right-hand man at Hillsborough, but like much of Wednesday’s backroom staff, his current contract was slated to end this summer.

Head coach Henrik Pedersen of Braunschweig looks on

On Monday night, it was announced that the Danish coach has signed a new contract, providing a much-needed lift to the Owls.

Pedersen stated (via the Sheffield Wednesday website): “When the chance presented itself and the chairman asked me to extend my existing contract with the club, I did not hesitate.

“It’s no secret that my family and I have fallen in love with both this fantastic club and the amazing city that has welcomed us so warmly.

“The fans are what keep a club going through tough games, good times, and bad. Our fans are the finest!

“I’m excited to continue my role at the club and getting back to work supporting the team and working with the great group of players we have.”

If Danny Rohl leaves, Henrik Pedersen will undoubtedly become the next Sheffield Wednesday manager.
While Danny Rohl has been connected with the Leicester City position, it is possible that this will be his final chance before being forced to return to S6 and resume his duties as Sheffield Wednesday manager.

That would be a bittersweet victory for the Owls, given the fanbase is increasingly disillusioned with Rohl following his antics this summer.

But, in the case that the German leaves, having Pedersen locked in for the future is a very wise move. Given the current situation, it’s unlikely that any external personalities will rush at the opportunity to replace Rohl.

Pedersen, on the other hand, clearly enjoys his time at the club and has pledged to stay for the foreseeable future. He may be the assistant manager right now, but the 47-year-old could get a significant promotion shortly.
