Sheffield Wednesday pick temporary Danny Rohl successor for pre-season, but they need a swift conclusion
The person who will take over for Danny Rohl as Sheffield Wednesday prepares for preseason training has been
announced.
Sheffield Wednesday is preparing for a preseason training camp amidst the chaos that is taking place in S6.
Off-field issues, such as Dejphon Chansiri’s ongoing difficulties paying players and personnel, have seriously
impeded Sheffield Wednesday’s preparations for the 2025–26 Championship season.
Since many of the club’s employees are unsure of their futures, Chansiri has become the target of media mockery.
Danny Rohl’s ongoing departure from the team has made preseason preparations even worse, leaving just one
person in command of Sheffield Wednesday’s training camp at St George’s Park.
Danny Rohl’s temporary successor named as Andy Holdsworth as Sheffield Wednesday continue pre-season preparations

preseason camp at St George’s Park today, July 7.
It is anticipated that Andy Holdsworth would replace Danny Rohl at the training camp, according to The Star.
Holdsworth, who most recently managed Sheffield Wednesday’s U21 squad, will take over as first team manager in
conjunction with Academy goalkeeping coach Ben Ledger and youth coach Giles Coke.
The training camp will take place across six days, with Sheffield Wednesday moving from the makeshift facilities of
the SWFCCP Jubilee Sports Club, where the Owls have been housed due to the Middlewood training ground not
being ready.
‘Poor’ Sheffield Wednesday preparations could significantly hamper their 2025/26 campaign
From the outside, Sheffield Wednesday appears to be confused about their preseason preparations and if they would
be the most prepared for the upcoming season due to the club’s current state.
Henrik Pedersen began his training with Sheffield Wednesday, but Andy Holdsworth, a coach with young coaching
experience, has once again taken up that commitment. It is impossible to undervalue the effect that preseason
uncertainty may have on players, whether it is for their future or the club’s.
The entire campaign build-up has fallen short of expectations, and Chansiri bears a large portion of the blame for
this, as she failed to resolve the managerial issue.
“The managerial situation at Sheffield Wednesday should have been sorted out long ago – even if it meant
swallowing some pride for the sake of the club,” writes Joe Crann on X, encapsulating the club’s current state. There
is no manager, no coaching staff for the first team, and no preparation for the upcoming season.
And tomorrow is the start of a preseason camp. So, so impoverished.
