Sheffield Wednesday respond to Danny Rohl’s Dejphon Chansiri claim as potential exit saga escalates.
Sheffield Wednesday have denied that manager Dannny Rohl and owner Dejphon Chansiri have reached an agreement on the German’s future, citing further indications that he is considering returning to his homeland.
Rohl’s roads are currently pointing away from Hillsborough, or so it appears based on his words.
His position as manager of the Owls has appeared to be in jeopardy since his players were paid late in March; so late, in fact, that the club was just a day away from being sanctioned with a three-window transfer ban.
From then on, he has dropped several hints that he will not be in his current role after this summer, despite signing a contract extension last summer that is supposed to keep him in Sheffield until the end of the 2026/27 season.
Sheffield Wednesday Issue Danny Rohl’s statement after additional exit hints were dropped.
Rohl, the owner of Wednesday, stated in a recent podcast with German outlet Kicker that he is clear about his career goals. On Thursday, TalkSPORT reported his decision to leave the club.
Rohl also stated categorically that returning to the German first division, the Bundesliga, where he previously worked as an assistant for RB Leipzig, is a viable option for him.
“I had a great time at Sheffield Wednesday,” said the 36-year-old. “I have made no secret of my desire to work at the highest level with the best players in the near future. The Bundesliga is, of course, a consideration. However, I understand that getting the final nod requires good work, the right people who believe in you, and timing.
“If all of that comes together, I may be able to return to the Bundesliga in the summer, or even sooner. However, it could go in a completely different direction.
.
“My situation in Sheffield is unofficially pretty clear. I have a clear agreement with the owner about how I see my future. Unfortunately, I can’t go into detail about it right now.”
The Owls have denied that there is any agreement between the manager and the owner regarding his future.
“We can confirm that no such agreement is in place. Sheffield Wednesday’s spokesperson confirmed to The Star that Danny Rohl is still under contract with the club.
Rohl has been linked to several clubs, including RB Leipzig. In an interview with RBLive, a blog covering the German club, he stated that the Bundesliga would be his “top choice”.
Sheffield Wednesday must prepare for life without Danny Rohl, but uncertainty benefits no one.
The manager’s use of the past tense – “I had a fantastic time at Sheffield Wednesday” – suggests he does not intend to lead the club in any future games.
He has brought such positivity to Hillsborough, despite their dismal start following their return to the Championship, but he is an ambitious coach who will want to test himself at the highest level.

The other members of the club’s hierarchy should focus solely on finding a replacement.
The sooner they get their ducks in a row, the sooner they can start planning for next season, without the man they once thought would lead them back to the Premier League; unfortunately, the strained relationship between head coach and owner appears to have come to an end.
