Sheffield Wednesday’s current situation is far from ideal.
Wednesday was slammed by a double embargo, the latest in a lengthy list of off-field difficulties.
The Owls’ pre-season preparations were thrown into disarray after being told that the training facility will not be completed in time, despite a number of first-team players returning last week.
Several of those Wednesday players might leave for free and join manager Danny Rohl, who is expected to depart the Owls.
Rohl is wanted by Leicester City and might be in the opposing dugout for the first weekend of the 2025/26 Championship season.
There doesn’t appear to be much to get Wednesday fans enthused about, but Rohl has already provided them with one ray of hope.

Sheffield Wednesday supporters may expect Gabriel Otegbayo to be a regular next season.
This season, Wednesday will only be able to sign players on free transfers and will most likely have to rely on young, inexperienced talent.
Fortunately, some of them, such as Pierce Charles and Gabriel Otegbayo, have already received exposure to the side.
The latter can provide some excitement for visitors who visit Hillsborough.
Last season, Otegbayo, 20, made 15 appearances across all competitions and impressed as a centre-back.
He will almost certainly start for the Owls in the Championship, forming the foundation of a team that many believe will struggle.
Danny Rohl believes Gabriel Otegbayo has the potential to be a star.
While he may not be present on Wednesday, he can be proud of his role in Otegbayo’s progress after making his pro debut.
Following the Owls’ game against Stoke City in December 2024, the 20-year-old delivered an outstanding performance that left his manager optimistic about his future.
He told the Sheffield Star: “I put him in against Norwich, he played against Brentford, and I believe he is one of Sheffield Wednesday’s future players. Coming into this game with ten men was daring. “In the middle of the back five, I completely trust him.”
