Sky Sports pundit makes ‘absolutely incredible’ Sheffield United vs Blackburn Rovers prediction for final day

Before kickoff on Saturday, Valerien Ismael’s Rovers are in ninth place and need to win three points at Bramall Lane, while play-off hopefuls next to them in the Championship table drop points.

Sheffield United hosts Blackburn Rovers in this weekend’s fixtures, with Chris Wilder’s team already condemned to a third-place finish after the top flight promotions of Leeds United and Burnley.

The Championship final day is set to be a fitting conclusion to the dramatic 2024–25 second tier season.

One Sky Sports pundit has made an intriguing prediction for the match ahead of the crucial Championship play-offs matchup, with Rovers right on the heels of the play-off pack before the last hurdle.

Both teams enter the match on winning streaks, with Wilder’s team easily defeating Stoke City 2-0, which allowed the Blades to reestablish their “winning culture.”

Rovers have had an incredible purple patch of form at the ideal time, with the play-offs looming, having won four straight heading into the Bramall Lane match.

Before the final day match, EFL pundit and Sky Sports commentator Sam Parkin predicted a dramatic end to the campaign at Bramall Lane:

“I’m going to go for Blackburn to win, I’ll go nil-one and just quickly having a look at it I think that still means they miss out but it could be very much what could have been when the final whistle goes given how well they’ve ended the season, but maybe Blackburn to win just miss out.”

According to full-back Callum Britain, a mentality change has been the “best thing” for Rovers to rekindle their play-offs push after pressure was building on Ismael just weeks ago.

But Parkin was corrected by his co-host Benjamin Bloom, who predicted that Rovers would finish sixth on goal differential after this weekend’s matchup between Bristol City and Preston North End, saying:

“Do you know what Sam, I think you have Bristol City and Blackburn plus four plus I think you’ve got Blackburn in there on goal difference which would be absolutely incredible.”

“Blackburn’s (goal difference vs. Bristol City is superior Sam plus five, plus four, so you’d have Blackburn in the play-offs.” Parkin replied: “Bristol City plus four now? Oh my so that could come into play, wow.
