Sorba: Overjoyed and eager to return the favor

Sorba Thomas is keen to return the favor that the Stoke City supporters have shown him since he moved from Huddersfield Town.

In early June, the Wales international signed a three-year contract at the bet365 Stadium, making him the Potters’ first summer transfer window acquisition.

The City supporters welcomed a player with Championship and international experience, and their cheers greeted the 26-year-old’s move from West Yorkshire to the Potteries.

As soon as possible, Thomas wishes to thank the supporters for their immediate support after witnessing the outpouring of love that followed his move and Player of the Match performance for Wales against Belgium.

Thomas said, “I feel like I’m on cloud nine because of it.” Receiving affection from supporters is always pleasant, and I’ve already experienced it from Stoke residents.

“Now, it’s about giving back on the field for all of that love.”

“There was a lot of noise (about my future), but I wanted to get settled as soon as possible and put everything to bed,” he continued.

After Stoke entered, it was obvious. It is a vast club with lofty goals.

“I wanted to be a part of the Club’s progress after speaking with Jon Walters and Mark Robins, the manager.”

The Welshman will be supervised by manager Mark Robins and assistants James Rowberry and Paul Nevin, the latter of whom Thomas knows from his time on international duty.

After their early talks and the encouraging comments he heard from players who thrived under the seasoned manager at Coventry City, Thomas is excited about the possibility of working with Robins for the first time.

Thomas disclosed, “The gaffer wants me to go out and be myself.”

James Rowberry’s presence is really beneficial since he knows how to bring out the best in me. It seems like the ideal fit.

“The manager and several of the old Coventry boys had nothing but positive things to say about him when I spoke with Jack Rudoni about it.

“I was even more eager to get started after they assured me that I would love it.”

Additionally, Thomas thinks that the Potters can only gain from his previous friendship with Rowberry.

“He sat me down and started showing me some clips when I was away with Wales,” he disclosed.

Robes is a kind guy, and I like him. Since he is one of the set piece coaches, we are quite tight on Wales’ camps.

“I believe it can only help the team to have the opportunity to bring our work together at the international level to the club level.”
