Problems resolved?

Seattle’s first game against the newest team in the league was a complete disaster. The injuries to Jordan Morris (hamstring) and Danny Musovski (back) prevented the Sounders from starting the game with a traditional center striker. Despite Musovski substituting in the second half, the squad was behind 3-0 going into halftime and lacked transition defending.

Paul Rothrock, a forward for the Sounders, hoped it was the team’s “rock bottom.” Seattle moved up from 12th to sixth place in the Western Conference standings after winning six of their last seven games. However, with 27 goals, San Diego is still in second place in the West.

Changing backline

Yeimar, the center defender, will not play for the Sounders. In the 1-0 victory over FC Dallas on Saturday, the Colombian hurt his right hamstring. Following Tuesday’s practice, Sounders coach Brian Schmetzer informed the media that Yeimar would likely miss two to four weeks.

Jackson Ragen, a center back, was already out for Seattle. He is very close to making a comeback after hurting his hamstring in April. Ragen will be available off the bench for Wednesday’s game, Schmetzer stated on Tuesday.

Schmetzer, who would probably call on Jon Bell to start with Kim Kee-hee, stated, “I’ll have to decide whether I want him to start already or whether I give him a little taste before I put him in as a starter.” “We’ll evaluate where he fits in after he plays two games in a week. However, it’s nice to have him back.

Quotable

Following Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Dallas, Sounders forward Jesús Ferreira declared, “It was my best performance as a No. 9 [forward] at the club.”

Since being dealt from Dallas to Seattle in January, he has yet to score his first goal. Last year, at the age of 23, the U.S. international made an MLS record by becoming the youngest player to score 50 league goals.

Ferreira went on, “The guys were finding me in the box.” It’s only the last pass. It didn’t come even though I was on the line [for two attempts]. I will continue to strive for those opportunities. However, you can see that the boys are looking for me. Outside, you can see Ryan [Kent] attempting to make plays for me. I demonstrated my ability to play that position on Saturday.
