Southampton brutally mock Ruben Dias with seven-word putdown...

After their Saturday draw with Manchester City, Southampton has made fun of Ruben Dias.

With a 0-0 draw against Pep Guardiola’s team at St Mary’s, the Saints officially overtook Derby as the team with the

fewest Premier League points.

Ruben Dias, a defender for City, attacked the demoted team and criticised their strategy for the game.

Dias raged, “They just waste time the entire game, not even trying to play.” “It’s bad for everyone.”

In response to the Portugal international, Southampton shared a TikTok compilation of multiple missed crosses by

City during the ninety minutes.

“I guess neither of us wanted to play,” the South Coast club captioned the photo.

Despite Erling Haaland’s comeback, City’s dull attacking performance against the already-relegated hosts, who are

destined for a bottom-finish, cost them the opportunity to narrow the gap with second-place Arsenal.

For the majority of the match, Saints goalie Aaron Ramsdale was unfazed, but he was eventually called upon to stop

a header from the irate Dias.

Later, Omar Marmoush broke through the woodwork with a long-range attempt, costing City valuable points in the

Champions League competition, while the Saints made sure they would not be remembered as the poorest team in

the history of the top flight.

The defender also took aim at the ‘dry’ St Mary’s pitch, adding: ‘It’s sad that Southampton waste time the way they

do. They just want to stop the game and make it as slow as possible because then the grass that is dry.

‘All those things that makes the game slower and slower and we have to fight against it, and try and make it as quick

as possible because it’s the way to get in.’

Pep Guardiola, however, disagreed with Dias’ verdict.

Responding to the comments, the City boss said: ‘No, no, no. Absolutely not.

‘They can do whatever they want. For many years here we faced teams in different approaches and they decided they

have to play. It’s on us to break them.

‘In those terms, many times teams have played five in the back or six and the striker has gone on our holding

midfielder and there’s no space, it’s difficult.

“You must break it, and we had the opportunity. When you look back at the opportunities for nothing, we were

unable to score, and it happened.”

“Now that we’re ready for the final, it’s time for Fulham and next time.”

“They didn’t do much, and we didn’t give up a single shot on goal, but we have to accept their style of play; it belongs

to Simon [Rusk] and his assistant coaches.” We must understand that I disagree with Ruben.

Following the final whistle, Southampton posted two pictures of happy players along with the clever tweet, “A point

without even trying to play,” in response to Dias’ outburst.
