Southampton realize complicated solution to seal necessary striker’s club return.
Southampton can recruit Che Adams from Torino this summer, but they will have to pay a high price for the player, who left them for free last year.
It’s been days since Ugochukwu’s amazing equaliser against West Ham, but it’s still a memorable moment for Saints fans. It makes sense now, given that Southampton’s post-goal celebration was arguably the finest memory of the season. But, on the other hand, did you ever question how low the Saints had sunk to rely on an injury-time goal from a pivot to save face? That’s more than enough reason for them to beef up their attacking force as quickly as possible. Still, while Southampton has been connected to certain rising talents for this position, can they really rely on one to fill Paul Onuachu’s vacancy? No.
Honestly, it feels ironic, but considering their recruitment strategy, Southampton’s most obvious solution is to re-sign a reliable forward. Only then can the Saints plan for a forward line makeover this summer. Call it the Saints’ clumsy luck or whatever, but Southampton’s shortlist has converged on a single name: Che Adams.
Southampton need to agree Adams’ return deal on all costs
Although EFL Analysis expert Graeme Bailey believes Southampton can make a move for Che Adams, bringing him back would be costly due to his reported £55k-per-week Serie A salary. However, he is an ex-Saint who has only improved from his last Southampton Championship spell to now at Torino.
Well, every fan would hope it to be a yes for Che Adams’ return given Southampton’s situation. But, would it be that way, remains one to be seen in the summer.
