Southampton star has a ‘lot of options’ this summer, he definitely won’t be staying in the Championship

EFL Analysis can exclusively reveal the host of Premier League sides interested in the Southampton star ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Will Still was appointed by Southampton this summer in the wake of the club’s relegation to the Championship, and the squad he takes into his first game in charge come August will be vastly different to the one he inherited.

Throughout the summer transfer window, Southampton have so far been linked with a host of incomings and departures.

Southampton are chasing Man City ace Juma Bah, and forward Willem Geubbels is a transfer target for the Saints, but they face competition from Sheffield United for the Frenchman.

Meanwhile, it appears one departing Southampton veteran is garnering interest ahead of next season, and EFL Analysis can reveal the raft of top flight sides interested in his services.

Premier League clubs target Kyle Walker-Peters after Southampton exit

Ahead of the 2025/26 Championship campaign, Southampton veteran Kyle Walker-Peters will leave the Saints upon the expiry of his contract, which ends on June 30.

As a result, the imminent Championship free agent has garnered a great deal of interest from a raft of Premier League clubs, given his experience in the top flight and versatility in defence.

EFL Analysis can exclusively reveal, via our Chief Football correspondent Graeme Bailey, that Walker-Peters will definitely be playing Premier League football next season, but it remains to be seen which suitor will secure his signature.

Bailey explained: “He’s got an awful lot of interest. He’s not staying the Championship, that’s for sure.

“Everton, Fulham, and West Ham like him, and even Tottenham, who were considering bringing him back as a homegrown player.

“He’s got an awful lot of options available to him and he will be going to the Premier League.

“I don’t think there is a favourite for him at this point, but he’s weighing up his options now, and he’s got a lot of them.”

Whichever top flight outfit snaps up the Englishman this summer will be completing an excellent bit of business.

Kyle Walker-Peters’ career statistics so far ahead of the 2025/26 season

Walker-Peters arrived from Spurs at St Mary’s in the summer window of 2020, for a fee in the region of £12m, which places the full-back outside of Southampton’s most expensive signings ever despite his impressive impact at the Saints.

In his 202-game stint at Southampton, Walker-Peters has cemented himself as a solid Premier League full-back, who offers great versatility given he is equally capable on both sides of defence.

Walker-Peters scored his first Premier League goal with a stunning effort against Manchester City in 2022, and has since notched 7 goals for the Saints.

With newly-promoted Sunderland prioritising two key positions this summer, including full-back, the Black Cats faithful have wanted to see the club target Walker-Peters, but it seems that they will be beaten to his signature by already established top flight outfits.

The 28-year-old’s experience, quality, and versatility would’ve been an immense benefit for Still in his first Saints season in charge, but the imminently departing full-back is destined for a top flight return this summer.
