Noticed: Millwall gets a significant boost before their match against QPR

With an international break approaching, Championship managers always have time to refine their concepts and put both fresh and old tactics into practice. In Millwall’s situation, though, you would think that following a convincing 3-0 victory over West Brom, Alex Neil and his team wouldn’t have wanted the break.
The Lions certainly got back on track and appeared to be gaining some momentum that had been stopped by the stoppage for the international period following a crushing 0–4 loss to Coventry at the Den the week before. With fellow high-flyers QPR up next and Millwall only one point outside the play-off spots, Millwall supporters will be hoping for a speedy return to action as they try to secure their spot in the top six, which evaded them just a little bit the previous season.
Four Lions players who had previously been injured have returned to training, which has greatly boosted Neil’s confidence for their trip to Loftus Road. The club shared a training video on X on Thursday that attracted the attention of many Lions supporters. Only goalie Lukas Jensen has yet to return to action after rupturing his Achilles tendon in April, but all four of Millwall’s returning players are crucial to the team.
The return of Alfie Doughty, the new left-back who joined the Lions from Luton Town in the summer, will delight Lions supporters the most. After such a strong start to the season, his demonstrated defensive prowess and his eagerness to advance and contribute to the team’s primary supply have been sorely missed. With a perfectly weighted through ball into the striker’s path, the 25-year-old set up Macaulay Langstaff’s late winner, making him the team’s standout performer in their opening-day victory over Norwich. But, after being forced off due to a hamstring injury in gameweek two against Middlesbrough, the full-back will be hoping to pick up where he left off.
Dan McNamara, the dependable defender who has been out since January after suffering a serious knee injury against Cardiff, is another absentee that we may see return to action soon for Neil. Throughout his five seasons at the club, McNamara has been the team’s Mr. Consistent down the right flank. He participated in light training during the summer but appears to have increased the intensity now that his return is imminent.
