Steven Gerrard picks first Rangers signing: Liverpool legend heading to Ibrox.

Steven Gerrard is poised to be named Rangers’ new manager and is already planning for the summer transfer window. Gerrard understands that a substantial makeover of the Ibrox squad is essential if he is to challenge Celtic’s domestic dominance once more, and the former England international is set to bring a Liverpool icon to the Light Blues. Jordan Henderson might join his old Anfield teammate at Rangers, according to the Liverpool Echo, who also note that the player’s future at Ajax is in serious doubt following the dismissal of head coach Francesco Farioli.

Henderson even questioned his own future at the club following the 2-0 victory over FC Twente on the final day of the Eredivisie season. “It depends on where the club wants to go. “They must make difficult decisions,” he is reported as saying by FCUpdate. During the January transfer window, Monaco expressed interest in Henderson but the deal was rejected. Despite the fact that his contract with Ajax has a year left, it appears like he may be leaving the club.Jordan Henderson: Set to leave Ajax

Jordan Henderson on Steven Gerrard

Henderson has previously expressed his admiration for Gerrard as a player on several occasions and could take his first steps into coaching under the former Liverpool midfielder.

“I’d have to say Steven Gerrard has been my biggest impact in my career thus far… “I watched him when I was younger, and then going to play and train with him every day was incredible for me,” he remarked in 2014. When Gerrard retired from football two years later, Henderson said, “I’m so incredibly lucky to have played with him, learnt from him, and, most importantly, gotten to know him as a person…” The opportunity to get to know him and observe how he conducts himself on and off the pitch has been invaluable to me.” Gerrard and Henderson could be about to team up at Rangers.
