Stoke City told to seek “about £8m” as Celtic chase transfer

Stoke City told to seek “about £8m” as Celtic chase transfer

It has been stated that Stoke City should seek at least £8 million from Scottish powerhouse Celtic in order to move

winger Million Manhoef this summer.

Manhoef is reportedly attracting attention north of the line after making 31 Championship appearances for a

struggling Stoke squad, tallying four goals and four assists.

Despite the Potters’ desire to retain the Dutchman, the Stoke supporter analyst for Football League World believes

his team might receive an eight-figure sum for Manhoef.

Given that Stoke City is still in danger of dropping to League One, supporters are likely worried about the departure

of important players this summer.

Celtic, who might provide the Dutchman with European games next season, has been linked to Million Manhoef’s

transfer.

“I think that Million Manhoef is one of the four that in the summer are going to attract attention, the others being

Jun-ho Bae, Viktor Johansson, and Wouter Berger that may be tempted with a move away,” FLW’s Stoke City fan

pundit Sam Harrison told Football League World when asked if he thought Manhoef would be tempted to leave

Stoke for Celtic.

“I believe Manhoef has the best chance of leaving out of the four.

The reason I say that is because I believe a winger will draw notice if they can have that flash of genius, especially in

the Championship.

“The one thing about Million Manhoef is that he is absolutely key to Stoke having success.

“However, consistency of performances has been a big thing – we know exactly what he brings to the table, which is

why he’ll start and why he is crucial in Stoke’s starting XI.

“However, is he consistent week-in, week-out? I don’t think you can say so.

“He doesn’t get involved all the time, but when he’s having a good game, when he’s playing well, when he’s taking on

players, when he rolls the ball out and hits it and scores, it’s just amazing, amazing.”

In February 2024, Stoke reportedly paid Eredivisie team Vitesse €4 million (~£3.5 million) to lure the winger to

England, and Manhoef joined halfway through the 2023–24 season.

Sam thinks Manhoef would be willing to leave the Bet365 Stadium this summer, but Stoke should be able to earn a

good amount of money because of the recent transfer windows’ high pricing.

Sam resumed, “I believe he will be tempted to move away.”

“Out of the four, I think he’s going to be the most tempted to go.

“I believe that the current market is just crazy in terms of how much (Stoke) would receive.”

“I’d be looking at the prices that are going up and down, and Stoke can get £8 million for him.”

“Obviously, getting £8m–10m or double figures would be fantastic, but I believe that Stoke, a young player and

Netherlands under-21 international, would want a premium price.

I believe that the fact that Celtic is also interested in him may indicate that we should set our sights a little higher.

Thus, I’m estimating around £8 million.

“In terms of the long-term investment that you may have on him, I believe £8 million. Maybe that’s too expensive,

maybe it’s too low.

“You’re not taking any chances by bringing him in; he’s merely one of those that will learn and develop.

Even though it won’t happen right away, you will be impacted by him once you invest the money.

“He just needs to improve the consistency of his performances. He will still have those brilliant moments, even in the

Championship.

“It would be great if Stoke could keep Manhoef, and if we can get money for him, I think that just benefits both

parties.”
