Sunderland and Middlesbrough favourite Julio Arca handed interesting new role after managerial stint

The former Sunderland and Middlesbrough man has been handed a new off-pitch role

Julio Arca, a former Sunderland and Middlesbrough fan favorite, has entered the business sector as a consultant with Michael William Recruitment.

The former Premier League midfielder, who also managed South Shields after retiring, is taking on a new challenge in the recruitment market. Arca has accepted a position as a corporate recruitment consultant, as announced by the company via a LinkedIn post, drawing on the leadership and teamwork abilities he earned both on and off the pitch.

The LinkedIn post stated, “Michael William Recruitment is happy to welcome Julio Arca to our team! Julio comes to us with an amazing career as a former professional player and manager, having played in the English Premier League for Sunderland AFC and Middlesbrough FC before retiring and managing South Shields Football Club.

“His experience in sports has given him exceptional teamwork and leadership skills, which he now brings to his new role with us.” As a corporate recruiting consultant, Julio will use his unique experience, network, and insights to help us support and connect with some of the region’s businesses, assisting them in finding brilliant candidates for their dream positions.

“His zeal for personal development and commitment to excellence in a new profession and industry will definitely benefit both our clients and candidates. Please join us in welcome and supporting Julio into the Michael William Recruitment family! We are thrilled to have him on board and look forward to the contributions he will make in his new role. Welcome, Julio!

Arca made over 350 appearances throughout his time in English football, becoming a much-loved figure on Wearside and Teesside. Since his retirement, he has stayed active in North East football, most notably coaching South Shields and occasionally helping with Sunderland’s Spanish-speaking players.

What has Le Bris said about the play-off final against Sheffield United?

Régis Le Bris lauded Sunderland’s season as a huge success, regardless of the outcome at Wembley — but he insists his team is completely focused on ending the season in the best way possible.

The head coach is well aware of the battle that awaits in the Championship play-off final, with opponents Sheffield United scoring 92 points during the regular season despite starting with a two-point deduction and defeating Bristol City 6-0 on aggregate in their semi-final.

Sunderland’s players and staff were granted Wednesday off to recover from their thrilling and arduous two-legged win against Coventry City. Preparations for the Wembley showdown will begin when they return to the training ground on Thursday.

“Getting to the final shows that this season has been fantastic,” Le Bris advised. “It’s essential to say that because you might win or lose at the end, but what we’ve experienced together this season has been simply fantastic. That is something we cannot forget. But, at the same time, we must focus on Wembley and the final game. We’ve got one more game. It will be another difficult challenge, but we will be completely focused on that game immediately. We’ll shift our focus to Wembley before the end of the week, and we’ll have a full week to prepare for the game. “That is the next step for us.”
