Sunderland Challenge Arsenal for Key Transfer Target as West Ham Circle

In keeping with their ambitious objectives for the current transfer window, Sunderland has now expressed interest in a playmaker who is also being pursued by West Ham and Arsenal.

At 1st Cloud Arena, the Black Cats defeated South Shields 4-0 to formally start the preseason.

The Senegalese midfielder, Habib Diarra, 21, started the first half, giving supporters their first chance to watch him play in the team’s uniform.

In any case, the Lads’ board continues to work during the transfer season and is considering acquiring a midfield player from the Championship.

Sunderland challenge Arsenal for Bilal El Khannouss as West Ham circle

L’Equipe reports that Sunderland is among the teams interested in signing Bilal El Khannouss (21) of Leicester City.

In the aforementioned publication, Loic Tanzi noted, “The English club, led by Florent Ghisolfi, approached Bilal El Khannouss in recent days.”

The French reporter goes on to say that West Ham and AS Monaco are also interested in signing the young midfield player, so they are not the only team interested.

However, there hasn’t been any new information since Africa Foot (via CaughtOffside) stated a few weeks ago that Arsenal was the team in the lead to sign the Leicester City midfielder.

El Khannouss doesn’t want to stay at Leicester City, thus any interested club will have certain “advantages” in recruiting him.

“Under contract until 2028 with Leicester City, the Moroccan international (22 caps) does not want to play in the Championship (English second division),” Tanzi told L’Equipe.

“Sunderland appear to have a head start, but other clubs have also made enquiries, including Monaco (in the event of the departure of an attacking player) and West Ham,” he stated.

El Khannouss made 36 appearances for Leicester in all competitions during the 2024–25 campaign, tallying three goals and five assists.

Although the Foxes have not disclosed a price for their star, Transfermarkt estimates his worth at €28 million.
