A recent Sunderland exit may end up shattering a record.

Sunderland just announced the departure of one of their players, which might potentially lead to a record-breaking acquisition.

The Black Cats have already begun their preseason with a 4-0 win over South Shields at 1st Cloud Arena. Meanwhile, the Lads’ board continues to work hard during the transfer window.

In reality, speculations about the signings of Habib Diarra (21), Reinildo (31) and others continue to circulate. Some may have missed Sunderland’s recent confirmation of a departure that has the potential to break records in the future.

Sunderland close loan agreement with possible record-breaking future.

Sunderland confirmed on July 6th that Adil Aouchiche (22) would be loaned to Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen.

According to the club’s announcement, the French midfielder requested the move to guarantee playing time.

Kristjaan Speakman stated, “Adil expressed a desire to play regularly in January, and we achieved this outcome during his time on loan at Portsmouth.”

“This move to Aberdeen will allow him to continue playing games on a regular basis at a progressive club,” he added, noting that the Scottish club will compete in Europe during the 2025–26 season.

Well, this contract has the potential to break records in the future, as the Daily Record reports that there is a £1.5 million purchase option at the end of next season.

If Aberdeen exercises this option, Aouchiche will become the Premiership club’s most expensive signing in history.

“That is £500,000 more than their previous record signing, which was Paul Bernard for £1 million in 1995,” says the aforementioned outlet.

The French player will also be eligible to play in the UEFA Europa League during the 25-26 season, given Aberdeen won the Scottish Cup last season.
