Sunderland Complete Loan Deal with Potential Record-Breaking Future

One of Sunderland’s players, who may end up becoming a record-breaking signing, recently announced their departure.

The Black Cats had already defeated South Shields 4-0 at First Cloud Arena to begin the preseason.

The Lads’ board is still putting in a lot of effort throughout the transfer window. Indeed, the rumours continue to circulate following the signings of Reinildo (31), Habib Diarra (21), and others.

A departure that could set future records was just revealed by Sunderland, something that some people might not have noticed.

Sunderland complete loan deal with potential record-breaking future

Sunderland confirmed on July 6th that Adil Aouchiche, 22, would be loaned to Aberdeen of the Scottish Premiership.

According to the club’s announcement, the French midfielder asked for the transfer in order to secure playing time.

“Adil expressed a desire to play regularly in January, and we achieved this outcome during his time on loan at Portsmouth,” Kristjaan Speakman remarked in reference to this.

“This move to Aberdeen will enable him to continue playing games regularly at a progressive Club,” he added, also mentioning that the Scottish club will have European participation during the 2025-26 season.

Well, this deal has the potential to break records in the future, as according to the Daily Record, there is a £1.5m purchase option at the end of next season.

Aouchiche would become the most costly acquisition in Premiership history if Aberdeen were to activate this option.

“That is £500,000 more than their previous record signing, which was Paul Bernard for £1m back in 1995,” this publication notes.

Given that Aberdeen won the Scottish Cup the previous season, the French player will also get the chance to participate in the UEFA Europa League during the 25–26 season.
