Sunderland ‘Making significant progress’ in talks for defender Crystal Palace like

Sunderland are ‘making significant progress in talks’ to land Getafe star Omar Alderete, who is also liked by their Premier League rivals Crystal Palace.

Sunderland and manager Regis Le Bris are looking to sign a centre-back before the transfer window ends, and Bologna’s Jhon Lucumi is their top target.

The Italians, on the other hand, are not interested in doing business, and Sunderland has been striving to get Alderete from Getafe despite dissatisfaction with the Lucumi pursuit.

Now, the Black Cats are pursuing a move for the 28-year-old centre-back, who has three years left on his Getafe deal.

Sunderland ‘are making substantial headway in talks’ to sign the Paraguayan, according to Italian journalist Luca Bendoni.

Alderete has previous La Liga experience, having made 34 appearances for Getafe last season.
In La Liga, he faced attacks from Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, and Real Madrid, catching Sunderland’s attention.

Crystal Palace is another Premier League club interested in the centre-back, in addition to Sunderland.

However, the Eagles’ future with Marc Guehi remains questionable.

Alderete has been offered to Bournemouth, but the Cherries do not consider him a priority.

The stars may be aligning for Sunderland to come in and add the defender to their roster at the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland, on the other hand, is not placing all of their eggs in one basket, and they may even recruit another centre-back.

They are one of several Premier League clubs expressing interest in Fiorentina defender Pietro Comuzzo.
