Sunderland are preparing moves for Wolves midfielder Tommy Doyle and AS Monaco’s Wilfried Singo for around £18m, reports TEAMTalk.
For the first time in eight years, Sunderland is getting ready to return to the Premier League. SAFC earned their long-awaited return to the top flight with their play-off victory over Sheffield United, but they still have a lot of work ahead of them to avoid relegation.
With the permanent signing of Enzo Le Fee this summer, the Black Cats have already surpassed their transfer record. In order to have any chance of remaining in the Premier League, SAFC is not going to be bashful in the market and is probably going to spend a lot of money.
Following Le Fee’s arrival, Sunderland is drafting offers for two further players.
According to TEAMTalk, they are preparing a double swoop for defender Wilfried Singo and midfielder Tommy Doyle.
Since Doyle is not in manager Vitor Pereira’s plans, he will be permitted to depart Wolves this summer. He might be available on loan or for as little as £3 million.
On the other side, Singo, a center-back for AS Monaco, may fetch up to £15 million. Over the last two seasons, the Ivorian has made 60 appearances for the team.
Looking at the right targets?
Sunderland’s summer window would get off to a fantastic start if they could complete this double deal. In the current market, both mergers would be excellent business decisions.
After being promoted, SAFC should definitely adopt this strategy if they want to have any chance of surviving. This season, Singo in particular has been outstanding for Monaco in both the Champions League and Ligue 1.
It would be fantastic for Sunderland if the Black Cats could bring these two for such a small price. However, it is unclear if their curiosity will result in anything noteworthy.
Sunderland target Tommy Doyle
Sunderland reportedly expressed interest in Doyle back in February, and it appears that his circumstances at Wolves are still attracting attention.
The midfield player is thought to be a suitable long-term replacement for Jobe Bellingham and Dan Neil. Bellingham and Neil have already been connected to moves this window.
Bellingham appears to be moving to Dortmund, which could account for additional connections to Doyle. This could be the perfect time for SAFC to finally make their move.
