Sunderland ‘preparing’ £10m Lennon Miller bid as Black Cats ‘quietly confident’ of landing Motherwell ace

Miller will be a major target for clubs this summer, with Motherwell looking to cash in on their star.

Celtic and Rangers could miss out on Lennon Miller, as Sunderland prepares a £10 million bid for the Motherwell striker.

Miller made his first appearance for Scotland in a 4-0 victory against Liechtenstein on Monday, and the Black Cats are set to put Motherwell’s determination to the test, SportsBoom reports.

Though Motherwell are desperate to keep their young star, Miller has made no secret of his desire to play at the highest level, and he has been connected with a number of prominent European clubs, notably Borussia Dortmund.

Miller is under contract until May 2026, giving Motherwell some negotiating power for the PFA Scotland and Scottish Football Writers’ Association Young Player of the Year award, after turning down a £2.5 million proposal from Udinese.

The midfielder, who has spent three seasons with Motherwell, scored four goals and eight assists in the Premiership last season, helping the Steelmen finish eighth.

Sunderland, who were promoted to the Premier League last season after an eight-year absence, are ‘quietly confident’ that they can entice Miller with the prospect of English top-tier football.
