‘Sunderland ready to spend £100m on signings after deals agreed’ – Stefan Borson.

Sunderland are set to spend £100 million on new signings after several deals have already been completed at the Stadium of Light.
The Black Cats defeated Sheffield United 2-1 in the Championship play-off final to secure their promotion to the Premier League.
Sunderland’s leadership will make “big” cash available for a summer transfer revamp, according to Football Insider. Regis Le Bris’s side has already signed Enzo Le Fee, Habib Diarra, and Noah Sadiki on permanent contracts, costing the club more than £60 million.
Sunderland are likely to spend a significant portion of the broadcast money they will earn after regaining their Premier League status, according to finance expert Stefan Borson.
Borson previously told Football Insider that Sunderland’s revenue might rise to about £150 million next season. The club’s turnover increased from £35.5 million in 2022-23 to £38.2 million in 2023-24.
Sunderland to pay Premier League ‘entry fee’
Borson insisted Sunderland will spend the £100 million “entry fee” to stay in the top flight next season.
He told Football Insider: “Well, it’s difficult to know the numbers because we don’t have any reference points for Sunderland.” “We don’t have a recent time they’ve been in the Premier League, so we don’t know what they’d generate from their commercial side or their matchday, so we’re a little unsure. “I believe they will take a little different approach, namely that if we do not invest, say, £100 million, we will not be able to survive, so we have an option.
“You either pay the £100 million entry price, which is a significant portion of what you’ll receive from the broadcast and gives you at least a chance of survival, or you go very low key and do a Luton and keep it very simple.
“You say, we know we’re up for a season, we know we’ll fall right back down, but we’re going to bank the profit. We’ll give it another shot next time, and it’ll be similar to the Luton or Norwich approach.
“I suspect they’ll spend £100million and see where it gets them.”

Sunderland set sights on Abdoulaye Doucoure deal
In terms of another prospective addition, Football Insider exclusively revealed on June 30 that Sunderland are interested in signing Abdoulaye Doucoure on a free transfer this summer.
Everton’s 32-year-old midfielder left the club last week after his contract expired. Sunderland are aiming to add Premier League experience to their team in the coming weeks, with Doucoure having made 278 appearances in the top tier.
