REGIS Le Bris has acknowledged that Sunderland is still looking to add two players before the transfer deadline, but he claims he would be content to continue with his present team in the event that the Black Cats are unable to get “the right player.”
Sunderland has added 12 players this summer, but they still want to add a wide attacker and another central defender to bolster their roster.
Jhon Lucumí is still Sunderland’s top center-half target; the Wearsiders submitted a new bid for the Bologna defender this week.
Le Bris stated: “We still want to reinforce the squad if it makes sense for the balance,” despite his continued reluctance to reveal specifics.
“If we find the right guy with the right mindset and at the appropriate level, it is still conceivable in the backline.
“Perhaps we still have one choice. However, we’ll stick with what we have if that’s not the case.
This week, Sunderland was also connected to a move for Abdul Fatawu, a forward for Leicester. However, given the Championship team’s value of the 21-year-old, that deal is unlikely to happen.
It’s uncertain at this point if Sunderland will pursue other wide offensive targets.
“There is a lot of speculation, which is good for everyone,” Le Bris stated.
“The same response. We’ll proceed if it’s feasible to bolster the team with the appropriate profile, but it’s not only our query.
“It’s a question of the player and the club, so we’ll see.”

“We need competition to be consistent in this league,” Le Bris continued. The squad needs competition.
Due to injuries, suspensions, and varying playing styles, we will require competition.
“We shall observe [what follows].” One week remains. We’ll find out in the end.
Le Bris is happy with Sunderland’s summer business thus far, regardless of how the final week turns out.
There won’t be any panic in the last week of the transfer market, even though Sunderland is trying to get rid of some players who aren’t part of Le Bris’ plans and the Black Cats are still trying to make acquisitions.
“Stressful or relaxed I don’t know, maybe in the middle,” Le Bris replied.
“We are currently well-organized and cooperating, so even if someone loses their mind, the other person can catch them. However, the last week has always been a little frantic and chaotic.
“We don’t have much recruitment to do right now, so if it’s possible to sign one or two more players maximum, we will; if it’s not possible, we’ll stay like that.”
