“Surprised” – QPR hailed for beating Sheffield United to “brilliant” Jimmy Dunne signing.

Jimmy Dunne has signed a new deal with Queens Park Rangers after being linked with a transfer to Sheffield United. According to Football League World, the Blades wanted to sign him in January and were interested in signing him as a free agent this summer before he committed to Loftus Road. The length of his new contract with the Reds is yet unknown. Dunne said in his conversation with the club, after agreeing to the conditions they had offered him, that the speculation had an impact on him, but he reinforced his belief that QPR was the ideal place for him to be moving ahead.

The news of his new deal surprised FLW’s R’s fan analyst, Louis Moir, who has been very happy with the moves made by the west London club this summer. Sam Field has also signed a new contract, and Julien Stephan is expected to become the club’s new manager in the near future. Moir believes the Irish defender’s dedication to the club is a positive indicator for the team’s future. “I’m kind of surprised that Jimmy Dunne signed a new deal,” stated the fan commentator. “I guess the longer things went on, the less I believed it would happen, but I’m overjoyed with the news.

“We haven’t had a player like him in years, who genuinely loves and cares about the club. It’s evident, and anyone who doesn’t believe that can watch his interview after the contract extension was revealed and listen to what he said. It’s simply brilliant. “Most importantly, having a player of his quality is crucial not only because he is popular with the supporters and enjoys playing for the club, but also because he was perhaps the finest right back in the Championship last season. “He poses a threat in both boxes. He truly had an incredible season last year and you could see why clubs like Sheffield United and sort of bigger clubs in the league were interested in him.

“But obviously, he has decided to stay with us, which is fantastic news. Because we have him tied down, we don’t need to put in as much work as we expected to solve the right back problem.

“Obviously, we’ll still need a cover, and depending on the new manager’s plans, we might want to play a back five with wingbacks, with Jimmy Dunne on the right side of a three. You never know, that might be an option.” It will be interesting to see if he can have the same impact as he had last season under the new manager and coaching style. But I believe that having him tied down reflects what the club is all about, the direction we are on, and our CEO’s consistent correct decisions. “He’s doing everything correctly, tying down the right guys. The recent news has piqued everyone’s interest, including myself, indicating that these are exciting times. “I’m already looking forward to the upcoming season, but when you’ve got players like Jimmy Dunne and Sam Field, and probably a few others to come, who are confident in the club’s direction, it’s such a positive thing to look at now that we’re in the right place and will hopefully go and do things. “But, absolutely, Jimmy Dunne staying is simply great. “Absolutely brilliant for us.”

Unless Stephan pulls off a little miracle and Ruben Selles flops terribly at Bramall Lane, Dunne could have been better suited next season with the Blades if league position and pyramid progression were all he cared about. However, it is clear that Dunne’s long-term aim extends beyond the potential of playing in the Premier League. His link with QPR is strong, and he feels unable to break free. That does not mean it will be the best decision for him. Given the path United hopes to pursue under their new owners, the 27-year-old might establish himself at one of the Championship’s top clubs. This decision could come back to haunt him if the Blades achieve substantial success under Selles and QPR remain just above, or even slip into, the relegation zone.
