Matt Thomson, the lead vocalist of Reading band The Amazons, has elucidated the two steps required to fulfil their ‘dream’ performance at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

The group recently released their fourth studio album, 21st Century Fiction, and is closely associated with the Royals, as players have entered the pitch to the single “Black Magic” for several seasons.

Performing on the Purple Turtle Stage outside the stadium during the season’s final match, attended by thousands of enthusiastic supporters in light of a recent takeover, Thomson has indicated that new owner Rob Couhig has already made contact.

Performing at Glastonbury represents the apex for numerous artists, and the Amazons are set to perform at Worthy Farm this summer; however, Thomson confessed that the aspiration has ‘always’ been to perform at the home of Reading Football Club.

It has been over a decade since the stadium hosted a musical event, yet there are aspirations for the arena to be utilised year-round.

Thomson asserts that two steps must be undertaken to achieve their ‘dream.’

“That is the aspiration,” Thomson informed Greatest Hits Radio. “My inaugural concert was the Red Hot Chilli Peppers at Reading in 2007.” It has to be the dream. It has always been the dream for the Amazons to play at Reading’s ground. It’s in the long-term plans.

“The first step is to have an owner who is receptive to putting on gigs there, and the second step is putting together a line-up that could sell the tickets. ”
