The biggest beneficiaries of Ipswich Town’s Birmingham City transfer hijack could be Wrexham AFC.

Wrexham wants to assemble a team that can once again perform above expectations, and Ipswich Town’s snatching of Chuba Akpom’s transfer to Birmingham City may be helping them in their chase of Nathan Broadhead.

The Red Dragons, which are co-owned by Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, have advanced from the National League to the Championship with three straight automatic promotions under Phil Parkinson’s leadership.

With the arrival of players like Lewis O’Brien, Conor Coady, and Liberato Cacace, they have started a busy summer transfer window and have spent a fair amount of money.

Parkinson and Wrexham will be fully aware of the significant improvement in quality as they prepare for their most difficult task to yet in this era.

In light of Ipswich’s recent move for Akpom, it will be extremely important to them if they can get Broadhead finalized and over the line.

Nathan Broadhead, an attacker for Wales, was reportedly close to joining Wrexham for a club record £7.5 million in the middle of last week.

Since then, the agreement has stalled, but recent events about Chuba Akpom’s future may eventually push him closer to a resolution.

After being relegated from the Premier League the previous season, Ipswich has also been quite busy in the final weeks of the transfer window, and they are anticipated to contend for the Championship crown this year.

They will undoubtedly have to scramble to add some firepower to the attack after Liam Delap was sold to Chelsea earlier this summer, and the Tractor Boys are unlikely to approve a sale without an incoming guaranteed

According to reports, they were able to sabotage Birmingham’s deal with Ajax for the former Middlesbrough attacker, and now Chuba Akpom is scheduled to have a medical at Portman Road.

Given that Broadhead is arguably most known at Ipswich for his mobility across the front line, Akpom’s potential arrival in Suffolk would undoubtedly free up Broadhead to leave.
