The Celtic transfer deadline day just got even worse as champions hurtle towards deeper attacker crisis
A month of the winter season, including the joyous Rangers match, will be missed by Sebastian Tounekti and Michel-Ange Balikwisha.
After failing to acquire any strikers, Celtic is now reckoning the expenses of a terrible summer window.
However, with new additions Michel-Ange Balikwisha and Sebastian Tounekti expected to miss a month due to the African Cup of Nations, which includes the festive matchup versus Rangers, they may also be on the verge of a winter attacking dilemma.
Balikwisha came through the Belgium youth set up but has declared he wants to play for Congo.
Tounetki, a star for Tunisia, was once a Norwegian prospect.
Additionally, the two are in the running for the AFCON, which begins the week before Christmas.
After missing out on important targets, Celtic is now searching for a striker through the free agent market. They have set their sights on Kelechi Iheanacho, a former Leicester City striker.
But the 28-year-old – who was released by Sevilla on deadline day – is also likely to be on AFCON duty with Nigeria.
Celtic face Rangers on January 3 amid a hectic festive fixture list but the trio would be back in time for the Europa League trip to Bologna on January 22.
