Aston Villa attacker Louie Barry is thought to be a target for Birmingham City during the summer transfer window.

The window is now officially open, and Birmingham City is preparing for a ‘aggressive’ summer.

Birmingham offer new signings at least £30k per week and have already signed Phil Neumann to a pre-contract before the window opened.

The Blues aim to join the Premier League within a year and plan to make significant player signings.

Birmingham want to upgrade their team in five areas, including adding a new forward.

Birmingham City have considered the Louie Barry transfer.

Aston Villa’s Louie Barry is one attacker the club has recently looked into.

The 21-year-old had a productive first half of the season with Stockport County, scoring 15 goals and assisting three in 21 League One games.

He was then recalled by Villa in the January transfer window and spent the second part of the 2024/25 season fighting Championship relegation with Hull City.

The Tigers, for whom Barry only appeared in four games before being injured, are said to be interested in re-signing him.

According to Give Me Sport, ‘Barry’s name has been raised internally at Birmingham City’.

Birmingham and Aston Villa have a strong history of rivalry, and Tom Wagner has expressed a desire to face them again if his team wins promotion.

Given the competitive nature of the Second City derby, the two teams haven’t done much business throughout the years.

Birmingham’s last signing from Aston Villa was Scott Hogan in 2020.

Hogan signed a permanent contract on September 16, 2020, for about £2 million, following a six-month loan agreement earlier this year.

He appeared 158 times with the Blues, scoring 36 goals and assisting six in all competitions before leaving on free in 2024.

Now 33, Hogan is on the books of MK Dons, for whom he scored eight goals in League Two during the most recent campaign.
