The New Saints release statement after player allegedly racially abused.

Aramide Oteh previously played for clubs like Walsall and Bradford City but was signed as a striker with The New Saints last year.

Cymru Premier team The News Saints (TNS) said it “unequivocally condemns” the abuse directed at one of their players during last night’s (Tuesday 15) game against North Macedonian club Shkëndija.

The UEFA Champions League qualifying game ended in a 2 – 1 loss for TNS, meaning they are out of the competition and drop to the Conference League qualifiers.

After the match, TNS posted a statement on their social media, claiming striker Aramide Oteh had been racially abused by someone in the home crowd.

In the post, they said: “The New Saints FC strongly and unequivocally condemn the racist abuse directed at Aramide Oteh by a member of the home crowd following the conclusion of tonight’s UEFA Champions League first qualifying round match against KF Shkëndija.

“There is absolutely no place for racism – either in football or in society. Everyone at the club is offering their full support to Aramide and stand firmly by him.”

They added that they support UEFA’s #NoToRacism campaign and are committed to promoting equality, on and off the pitch.

Both UEFA and Shkëndija have been approached for comment.
