The QPR players who may never put the shirt on again – £15k-a-week star features

Following a dismal season in 2024/25, Queens Park Rangers will rebuild this summer. With a new manager set to be appointed, their club might look significantly different at the start of next season.

QPR are yet to select a new manager to replace Marti Cifuentes, who is currently on gardening leave, but regardless of who comes in next, it appears to be a summer change at Loftus Road.

There has already been much speculation over Jimmy Dunne’s future, who is understood to be in talks with the club about a new deal with Sheffield United, but here are three additional players who may not be wearing a hooped shirt next season.

Hevertton Santos

Hevertton Santos, a Brazilian full-back, joined for QPR on a free transfer after his contract with Portuguese club Estrela da Amadora expired.

However, the 23-year-old wing-back has struggled to settle at Loftus Road. He appeared for them six times in the first part of the 2024/25 season before being loaned back to Vitoria de Guimaraes in Portugal in January.

The financing, however, did not go well. He only made six more appearances in Liga Portugal, and despite reports that Vitoria had an option to buy him for €2 million (£1.7 million), it appears that they will not exercise it, and the player will return to West London. It would not be shocking to see him back on loan next season or sold if Rangers can find a buyer.

Zan Celar

Zan Celar, a Slovenian international and the previous season’s top scorer in the Swiss Super League, came to Loftus Road from Lugano in July 2024 with high expectations.

However, things did not go as planned for Rangers, as he was reportedly offered to German giants Werder Bremen during the January transfer window.

This trade did not happen, although Celar only scored two goals in 19 League appearances for QPR previous season. Injuries had an impact, but the managerial story could work against him in 2025/26.

Celar is projected by Salary Sport to be the club’s third-highest-earning player, and the club may appreciate the £15,000 per week he is said to make being freed up to spend elsewhere. He could find himself out on loan next season.

Morgan Fox

The players QPR loses this summer may not all be those they want to lose. Morgan Fox has been at Rangers since signing from Stoke following the expiration of his contract in July 2023.

Fox has been a success at Loftus Road, making 26 appearances for them in the 2024-25 season, but Hull Live reported in April that, with Fox’s Rangers contract expiring at the end of the season, they may face a “three-way transfer tussle” to keep him beyond the end of the season, with Blackburn Rovers and Millwall also interested. With nearly a decade of experience, it’s understandable that other clubs are intrigued.

Morgan Fox’s Career To Date (Transfermarkt)
Club Years Appearances Goals
Charlton Athletic 2013-17 116 1
Notts County (Loan) 2013-14 7 1
Sheffield Wednesday 2017-20 103 3
Stoke City 2020-23 78 0
Queens Park Rangers 2023- 48

Rangers indicated on their end-of-season retain and release list that conversations with the player about a new deal were underway, but nothing was confirmed as of yet. Without a manager and with several clubs around, Fox may begin next season playing elsewhere.
