‘The reason…’: Sky Sports pundit says why Sheffield Wednesday are yet to confirm Danny Rohl exit

Danny Rohl is anticipated to leave Sheffield Wednesday this summer, though the club has yet to make an official announcement.

The German has had two successful seasons with the Owls, saving them from relegation in 2023/24 and finishing in the middle of the table last season.

However, things took a turn for the worse around the close of 2024/25, with Danny Rohl linked to multiple jobs.

Rohl did not attend the start of pre-season as he considered leaving, and Sheffield Wednesday players were dissatisfied with the management.

A Sky Sports commentator has now discussed his future at Hillsborough Stadium.

Danny Rohl Sheffield Wednesday’s Future

Sheffield Wednesday has faced repeated embargoes owing to financial issues, in addition to Rohl’s future.

As a result of these troubles, a number of prominent players have been sold or had their contracts terminated, most recently Josh Windass and Michael Smith.

Sky Sports analyst Lee Hendrie has recently discussed Rohl’s predicament with the Owls.

And he stated that a decision on his future had not yet been taken due to all of the other issues at hand.

He told Football League World: “I simply think it needs to be handled very fast; I think a decision needs to be made, and I think the reason it hasn’t been made is because of what’s going on behind the scenes in terms of who’s going to come in and take over the football club.

“But yeah, this needs to be resolved for Sheffield Wednesday because it’s all looking very much of a shambles at the moment, the quicker it’s resolved the better because as I said the season is just around the corner.”

What we know about Danny Rohl’s departure from Sheffield Wednesday

EFL Analysis reported earlier this week that Rohl will be departing Sheffield Wednesday.

We understand that discussions on whether the German will leave permanently or be placed on gardening leave are still ongoing.

But we expect the former Bayern Munich coach to leave this summer. Henrik Pedersen, an assistant coach, is slated to assume leadership of the first team.
