“This is fantastic news”—Pundit “reacts to big Reading FC takeover update
The Swiss company Chiron Sports Group has agreed to purchase Reading from Dai Yongge, and Carlton Palmer has
forecast a “brighter future” for the League One team.
It is generally known that the Royals have had off-field problems. In the past, the players have not received their
wages on time, and the club has also had problems with HMRC regarding payments.
They were subject to multiple point deductions during the previous few years, which included helping to send them
down to the Championship.
| League One standings 2023/24 | ||||

The current campaign saw Ruben Selles’ men docked six points over the course of the season, but despite that, they managed to stay up as the group pulled together.
Reading FC takeover latest
However, given that Yongge has stated for months that he is amenable to a sale, there is a sense that Reading cannot proceed until a takeover is completed.
Back in March, it was announced that Chiron Sports Group had entered an exclusive period, which was good news. Furthermore, according to Football Insider, an agreement has finally been struck.
Obviously, that is the news that all Reading fans want to hear, as they’re desperate for this to go through as soon as possible.
Naturally, they would want it finalised ahead of the summer window opening, as it would allow them to start recruiting ahead of next season.
Carlton Palmer on Reading FC takeover news
Palmer, a former England international, told FLW how crucial it is for Reading to resolve this because he asserted
that if everything was in order to support Selles’ new acquisitions, they might begin to dream of promotion.
They placed 17th in League One. Hopefully, the club will receive some investment. After all the issues, you would
think that if they are managed well and have financial support, they could push for promotion the following season
or at the very least, qualify for the playoffs.
For the players and supporters, this is fantastic news, and let’s hope that their future is brighter. Everything appears
to be in order, and the sooner this is finished, the better.
Reading FC need to kick-on
Reading has had a very difficult few years; at times, it seemed like they had lost all hope. The fans should be
commended for their efforts to bring about change and for their continued protests against the dictatorship.
Now that it looks like Yongge’s reign may be coming to an end, the fans won’t get ahead of themselves until
everything is signed because they’ve been in a similar situation previously.
Hopefully, they will receive the positive news they desire, which will enable them to look forward with enthusiasm
and hope rather than the fear and despair that have gripped many fans over the last 18 months or so, as Palmer
states.
