Three Premier League players Sheffield United could sign for free to make promotion push in 25/26
Sheffield United will spend another season in the Championship after failing to beat Sunderland in the Championship play-off final.
Sheffield United were favourites to beat Sunderland at Wembley Stadium, but when all was said and done, it was the Black Cats who are now set to play Premier League football in 2025/26.
Chris Wilder was disappointed with the use of VAR during the showpiece, seeing the Blades have a goal ruled out when they were 1-0 up.
Sunderland went on to win 2-1 in normal time, with Sheffield United missing out on a big prize fund.
After coming so close in 2024/25, the Yorkshire outfit’s rebuild will now need to get underway, with keeping Wilder a priority for the club.
As well as maintaining the services of their manager, fresh faces are expected to arrive at Bramall Lane this summer.
And we have taken a look at three soon-to-be out-of-contract Premier League players Sheffield United could snap up as they prepare to make another promotion push in 2025/26.

Kyle Walker-Peters
The second half of 2024/25 saw on-loan Leicester City player Hamza Choudhury impressing in a makeshift right-back role.
Sheffield United like Choudhury, but their failure to win promotion could impact their stance on taking up their option to buy.
As a result, they would need a new right-back and experienced top-flight star Kyle Walker-Peters is set to become available next month.
He’s played 148 games in the top tier, as well as 43 in the Championship. In said games, Walker-Peters has scored five and assisted 15.
Danny Ings
Wilder has defended Kieffer Moore following his struggles in the play-off final, but his 2024/25 on the whole wasn’t amazing.
Despite playing in a team that was fighting for a top-two place for much of the season, the forward scored just five league goals.
As a result, a new number nine could be a priority for the Blades once the window opens up on June 1.
Danny Ings has interest from several clubs already as his contract with West Ham United runs down, and Sheff Utd should join the list of names looking at the experienced ex-England international.
Aaron Cresswell
Like Ings, Aaron Cresswell already has suitors in the second tier amid his impending Hammers exit.
The Englishman is a natural left-back but has been deployed in the centre of defence in recent times.
Cresswell has 54 assists and 16 goals across his career when competing in the Premier League and Championship.
