Todd Cantwell is leading by example at Blackburn Rovers.

Cantwell has scored four goals so far this season, including the game against Ipswich Town that was called off. After a well-timed run to meet Ryan Alebiosu’s cross, the 27-year-old scored the first goal against Swansea City with a perfect header. The visitors responded with goals from Goncalo Franco and Liam Cullen either side of halftime, but it was insufficient to prevent a fifth league loss of the year.

Cantwell’s consistency was commended by Ismael, who also urged the team’s other attacking players to contribute more goals. The head coach said, “He is the captain and he just shows it was the right choice week in and week out.” I’m pleased of Todd Cantwell because the fans and we both enjoy seeing him perform at that level. Ultimately, though, we require points.

“To improve the performance, we need the players surrounding Todd.” I am happy with many of the players, but I believe we should expect better from a few. “To assist him, we need the midfielders, wingers, and forwards. Although we made more progress towards the goal today, I believe we can still do better and at least reach the aim. More penetration, crosses, and the desired outcome were observed. We must continue to assist Toddy at that level. The only other players to have scored in the first seven games of the Championship campaign are Ryoya Morishita, Yuki Ohashi, and Ryan Hedges.
