Tom Wagner plays down Birmingham City’s promotion chances ahead of 2025/26 campaign
The Blues have had an incredible summer, and following their League One season that set a record, they have made
acquisitions that have put them in the running for a solid Championship finish.
One of the main players for the West Midlands team this season will be Tommy Doyle, who has been dubbed the
“signing of the summer.” Promotion has already been discussed by Doyle, but Chris Davies will want his team to
avoid getting ahead of themselves.
However, fans will be thrilled that Kyogo Furuhashi is now a member of St. Andrew’s, and owner Tom Wagner has
made statements regarding Birmingham’s upcoming season.

As the Blues aim for several promotions and their first Premier League return since 2011, Wagner has been eager to

“Now we’re back in the Championship we will be highly competitive on a revenue basis, as compared to any other
team. We’re always planning for the future and while it would be nice to be promoted in our 150th anniversary year
it’s even more important to remember that it’s always about the next match.”

After departing Derby County in January, centre-back Eiran Cashin returned to the Championship on loan, and

Birmingham doesn’t have a left-back backup, but they still have a month left in the transfer window, so they have
plenty of time to add someone.
Even though they were only promoted to the Championship in April, the West Midlands team is still aiming for a top
two finish, according to The Telegraph.
