Tommy Doyle issues Birmingham City promotion warning, Blues can do ‘something special’ on one condition

Birmingham City is rapidly becoming one of the front-runners to be promoted to the Premier League in 2025–2026

Chris Davies’ team has been active in the summer transfer window as they aim to return to the Premier League after

14 years away from the level following a record-breaking League One campaign last time out.

Even though Alfie May left St Andrew’s after just a year to join Huddersfield Town, Kyogo Furuhashi’s arrival is

extremely enthusiastic. However, the Blues appear to have a very formidable defence, and Eiran Cashin is a fantastic

addition.

Tommy Doyle has been referred to be a “signing of the summer,” which is not surprising given that the Birmingham

midfielder displayed poise against Port Vale over the weekend and that promotion may be imminent.

Tommy Doyle claims Birmingham City can win promotion to the Premier League

While the step up to the Championship is a large one from League One, Blues’ recruitment has been superb and they

may just be towards the top six come May.

Doyle has discussed Birmingham’s chances of promotion this season and sees it as a chance to establish himself

consistently at a permanent home.

“Listen, I really want to be present and in the moment every single day,” he stated to his father the other day when

they were talking about it (promotion) (via: Birmingham Live).

“There are clearly people from the outside looking in and saying, ‘Gosh, they can get to the Premier League, they can

do this and that’ and of course we can, but I think the most important thing is to be present in the moment right

now. We have a huge chance to do something special.

“We need to focus day-by-day and get the best out of myself individually and get the best out of my teammates. If we

all do that I think we can make something special happen.”

Tommy Doyle is right to have confidence

So far this summer has been hectic, but Birmingham has made all the required adjustments as they pursue Premier

League football.

Although it may be difficult to break into the top two spots, the Championship is a very competitive division, and it

appears that the race for the top six is once again rather open.

In addition to having amazing financial resources, the Blues have demonstrated this summer that they are not

hesitant to pitch in when necessary.

But Doyle is right; with the season already so lengthy, Birmingham shouldn’t get ahead of themselves.
