Tottenham Hotspur players are gearing up for a staggered return to pre-season training in early July, as preparations begin under newly appointed head coach Thomas Frank.
Frank Begins His Spurs Tenure
Thomas Frank officially took over managerial duties last week on a three-year deal, marking the start of a new era following Ange Postecoglou’s departure after two seasons. This summer will be the first pre-season in three years led by a different head coach at Hotspur Way.
Although Frank has already interacted with players undergoing injury rehabilitation — including James Maddison and Radu Dragusin — and is expected to meet Dejan Kulusevski during his post-wedding recovery, full-scale preparations will begin once the main squad returns from their respective holidays and international duties.
Staggered Return to Training
According to football.london, the first wave of Tottenham players will report back to the training ground in the latter part of the first week in July. Upon arrival, they will undergo physical assessments, medical screenings, and begin training sessions with Frank and his newly assembled backroom staff.
Players who featured for their countries after the domestic season concluded will be given extended rest periods and are expected to return in the second week of July.

Youth Internationals to Return Later
Young talents including Archie Gray, Mathys Tel, and Wilson Odobert (U21 European Championship), as well as Mikey Moore and Reiss-Alexander Russell-Denny (U19 level), will receive additional time off after completing their respective tournament campaigns.
Busy Pre-Season Schedule Ahead
Tottenham’s official pre-season fixtures are set to begin with a visit to Luton Town on Saturday, July 26. However, the club is expected to confirm at least one additional friendly for the preceding weekend. Spurs also frequently schedule behind-closed-doors matches at their training ground to help sharpen players before competitive action begins.
Asian Tour and UEFA Super Cup on the Horizon
The Lilywhites will travel to Asia at the end of July for high-profile friendlies — first against Arsenal in Hong Kong on July 31, followed by a match against Newcastle United in South Korea on August 3. Upon returning to Europe, Spurs will face Bayern Munich in Germany on August 7 — a reunion with former star Harry Kane.
These fixtures serve as preparation for a significant early-season test, with Tottenham set to contest the UEFA Super Cup against PSG on August 13 in Udine, Italy.

Premier League Opener Set
Due to the scheduling of the Super Cup and the Bayern match, Tottenham will forgo their traditional pre-season home fixture. The 2025–26 Premier League campaign begins shortly after, with Scott Parker’s newly-promoted Burnley side visiting the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, August 16.
